goodbye
The End of the World (Next Week)
Dear readers,
It is with regret that we announce that this is the final edition of the World Next Week.
At a time of economic turmoil, readers would be forgiven for thinking the newsletter was a victim of restructuring, as if it were a lesser-known Detroit car brand or a German chemical works.
Not so: the World Next Week is being replaced by a brand-new publication, The Political Economist, which is a hard copy round-up of analysis from all parts of our firm. Tackling one issue in depth each month, the magazine has so far investigated the war in Georgia, the world financial crisis and Barack Obama’s victory. From December the magazine will have a fully-fledged online presence too, incorporating a few items similar to those which you have found in The World Next Week.
You will shortly be getting an e-mail from us inviting you to take a look -- but if you’re the impatient sort, you can download the latest trial issue by visiting www.thepoliticaleconomist.com and clicking ‘Download latest edition’.
Before we bow out, then, here is a valedictory issue filled with some of our favourite pieces from the World Next Week, highlighting our take on a few major (and not-so-major) stories about world affairs from the past year, and what’s happened since.
We would like to thank you for reading, for sending us comments, and submitting all those Questions of the Week. If you have any further comments, questions or rants we’d love to hear from you at TheWorldNextWeek@Oxford-Analytica.com
With best wishes,
The editors
