While in 2003-07, robust favourable international conditions drove growth, in a more volatile global context, the Argentine economy inevitably is heading towards a slowdown. The likelihood of a hard landing depends not only on the evolution of the global crisis, but also the government's ability to deal with a complex domestic scenario. Economic policy is affecting investment and inflation prospects, threatening the trade and fiscal surpluses
