Prospects 2007: India

Video Briefing No. 8 - Tuesday January 16, 2007

India's extraordinary economic growth is set to continue this year, with a predicted expansion of 8%, much of it based on the strong performance of the services sector. Yet there is a fragility to India's success story thanks to a weak manufacturing sector, persistent rural poverty and poor infrastructure. Political challenges also lie ahead which could blow the reformist government of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh off course.

Graham Hutchings, Editor of the Oxford Analytica Daily Brief, discusses these and other issues with Dr David Washbrook, Fellow of St Antony's College and Oxford Analytica Region Head.
