World Bank Group and IMF Spring Meetings 2016

Each spring, thousands of government officials, journalists, civil society organisations, and participants from the academia and private sectors, gather in Washington DC for the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. At the heart of the gathering are meetings of the IMF's International Monetary and Financial Committee and the joint World Bank-IMF Development Committee, which discuss progress on the work of the IMF and the World Bank Group. This year’s Spring Meetings events take place in Washington, DC, between April 12 and April 17.

Our value

We are delighted to provide a background briefing book for the Spring Meetings. Selected articles from the Oxford Analytica Daily Brief provide analyses on oil sector reforms in Nigeria, the impact of cheap oil on debt issuances in the Middle East, the need for construction investment in South-east Asia, the prospects for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reform agenda in India and how events in Libya will fuel risks of terrorism in the region.

We also examine the potential for overreach in Beijing’s approach to its relations with the rest of the world, the risks of global reliance on minerals from parts of the world ridden by conflict, the prospects for increased international anti-corruption cooperation, and the debt and revenue pressures facing states in sub-Saharan Africa.
